Knitted Cup Cozy

Knitted Cup Cozy
I love having tea out of my reusable Starbucks cup but I find that it stays SO hot, making it impossible to hold.  I whipped up a few little sleeves to solve that problem.  These cozys are so easy to make and take no time at all.  Gauge isn't really an issue with these... this will probably be the only time we tell you not to worry about your gauge, so don't get too excited! :)
If you have kids in school, these would also make great holiday teacher gifts. The reusable cup is only a couple of dollars, and you know you have a ton of yarn scraps!  Just tuck a gift card in the cozy and you have the perfect gift for a coffee or tea lover!

Supplies Needed:

Approximately 30-40 yards of yarn
Knitting needles (straight or circular)
Measuring tape
Tapestry needle for seaming up your cozy

As I said above, gauge doesn't matter but you don't want to knit loosely, so go down a needle size if your knitting is loose.  You don't want your cozy to slip off of your cup!

For the rainbow cozy I used a DK weight yarn, doubled on a US #10.  I cast on 36 stitches and did a K1, P1 rib for 3".  Bind off in rib.  Seam together, weave any ends and you're done!

For the chunky knit cozy, I used a thick yarn on a US #13.  I cast on 20 stitches and did a K1, P1 rib for 3".  Bind off in rib, weave any ends and seam together.

It's that easy!  Play around with different yarns, stripes or patterns.  We'd love to see what you come up with.

Happy Knitting,

Melissa
